OnlyFans messages and PPV: where chat revenue comes from

On OnlyFans, messages earn through pay-per-view content, tips and custom requests, and for many earning creators they bring in more than subscriptions. That is why chatting agencies exist. This guide explains the revenue types, the platform fee, what agencies charge on chat revenue and the numbers to track, without scripts or tricks.

How do OnlyFans messages make money?

OnlyFans messages make money in three ways: pay-per-view (PPV) messages that fans unlock, tips sent in chat, and custom content agreed in conversation. For many earning accounts, messages bring in more than subscriptions, which is why chatting agencies exist at all.

What is a PPV message on OnlyFans?

A PPV message is a locked message with photos or videos that a fan pays to unlock; the creator sets the price. PPV can go to one fan in a conversation or to a list as a mass message. OnlyFans keeps its 20% platform share of every unlock, as with subscriptions and tips.

What is the difference between a mass message and a chat?

A mass message goes to a list of fans at once, while a chat is a one-to-one conversation. Mass messages reach many fans cheaply but are easy to ignore; chats convert better but take time, which is the work a chatter does. Agencies that publish what their price includes usually list both; see the scope criterion in the methodology.

Which numbers should a creator track?

Track net revenue from messages and tips, the share of your total net they make, the unlock rate of PPV messages, and the spend of your top fans. These are the numbers a weekly agency report should show; 3 agencies publish a sample report. Your share from messages and tips is also the input that changes your bill most in the cost calculator.

What do agencies charge on message revenue?

Several agencies charge only on chat revenue (messages and tips), not on subscriptions. Published rates on that basis include 15–25% and a flat 25%; tiered rates fall as chat revenue grows. The net vs gross guide compares the bases, and the cost overview lists each rate with its source.

How do I price PPV messages?

There is no single right PPV price. It depends on your audience, the content and how often you send. What a creator should decide personally is the floor: what you never sell and the lowest price you accept. Write both into the brief for any chatter; the vetting guide explains why a written limits rule matters.
